Rudbeckia fulgida 'Goldsturm' - BLACK EYED SUSANS

Sale price$3.75

Tanya’s Take The plant everyone thinks of first when someone says 'native plant' and for good reason!  This stellar plant is a mainstay in many a native garden.  A month plus of large yellow blooms with brown centers.  Excellent cut flowers and a 'grow anywhere' attitude.  Truly a 'set it and forget it' plant.  A highly recommended old school native cultivar.

Pollinators served I used to think Rudbeckia didn't serve pollinators as I never saw bees or butterflies on the. But no. Go look closely at a stand of black eyed susans and you will see they are alive with very small flies and bees.  I had no idea until I really paused to look!

Color and texture Generous wide roughly toothed base of leaves with many stems erupting late summer with flowers.

Flowers Yellow with brown center susans...the classic!

Height 3-4'

Sun, part shade or shade? Best in full sun, but highly adaptable

Soil moisture Best with an average amount of moisture but will grow just fine in very dry conditions.

Preferred soils Very adaptable.

Is it a bully? No. Expanding dense clumps that self sow to perpetuate itself.

Drought tolerance Very high

Should you give this plant a try Yes.  Another tried and true plant for those of us who feel they are plant challenged.  Never fear!  Plant this plant!

Is this native Yup. Entire east coast including DC, MD and VA
