Echinacea purpurea - PURPLE CONEFLOWER 'RUBY STAR'

Sale price$0.00

Tanya’s Take This purple coneflower cultivar is one I am very familiar with...I have it in a big drift in my front yard. Upright grower. It gets no supplemental water and is an consistent 3.5'. Flowers better and they last longer with water, though. Wonderful flower, seed heads hold all winter. Goldfinches love the seeds and put on a show with these! Tried and true. Tough as nails. Occasionally self seeds but I don't mind at all.

Pollinators served Small bees and insects.

Color and texture Upright narrow plant. Medium to coarse texture leaves. Small base of leaves leads to tall flower stems,

Flowers The classic purple coneflower rays with orange cone.

Height 3-4'

Sun, part shade or shade? Best in full sun

Soil moisture Best with an average amount of moisture but will grow just fine in very dry conditions once established.

Preferred soils Very adaptable.

Is it a bully? No. Expanding dense clumps that self sow to perpetuate itself.

Drought tolerance High once established.
