Phlox stolonifera - PHLOX 'SHERWOOD PURPLE'

Sale price$3.75

Tanya’s Take: Confession: This is a great native cultivar that I am currently abusing. My yard is too dry for this plant but it's trying it's best...and for the most part succeeding. That tells you something about it's toughness! Best use is groundcover as it hugs the floor of your plantings.

Pollinators served: Attracts bees, bumble bees and honey bees, butterflies and more.

Color and texture:  Fine textured ground hugger

Flowers:  Purple in spring-summer

Height:  Foliage is 2" blooms rise to about 6"

Sun, part shade or shade?:  Part to full shade

Is it a bully?  Not in my yard. Will spread well when happy.

Drought tolerance: I wouldn't push it. It's best in average soil with pretty consistent moisture.

Toughness rating: OK, but truth be told, I've killed a few of these. Really needs spots with mostly consistent moisture.

Should you give this plant a try: Yes, if you've got shade that doesn't get bone dry on the regular.
