Tanya’s Take This straight species of bee balm is a workhorse.  Upright habit leading to long lasting lavender blooms. 

Pollinators served Many.  It is not uncommon to see bees butterflies and many smaller critters on the blooms.

Color and texture Medium texture, upright grower topped with lavender flowers in June.

Soil moisture  Moist but highly adaptable highly adaptable to drier conditions

Preferred soils Loam to clay, but highly adaptable

Is it a bully? No.  Expands to form clumps. 

Drought tolerance Some, when established.  Does best with regular water.

Toughness rating Is resilient when established, but with limits.  Must have some moisture.  It also is susceptible to powdery mildew, so must have good air circulation. 

Should you give this plant a try Yes, if you have average moisture and lots of sun and air circulation to give it.
